Lionel 8952-53 Pennsylvania RR F-3 AA Diesels (Powered & Dummy) - C8+/LkNew/OB

Price: $359.95

Mfg #: Lionel 6-8952, 6-8953

2016 Greenburg Price Guide: $500 (MInt)

This Pennsylvania RR F-3 Brunswick green & gold diesel set was manufactured by Lionel in 1979. The F-3 AA diesel set features a powered unit (#8952) and a non-powered unit (#8953).

The powered unit features:

  • Die-cast frame, motor bracket and gear box
  • Operating headlight
  • Self-centering operating magnetic knuckle couplers
  • Two powerful Pullmor motors
  • 8-wheel drive w/traction tires
  • Transformer controlled forward-neutral-reverse
  • Illuminated number plates
  • Nose hand-grabs and porthole windows
  • Die cast trucks and wheels
  • The "dummy" (non-powered) A-unit features illumination, self-centering couplers and die-cast trucks and wheels.

These units are in Like New condition, with a clean (dust/dirt free), crisp, nearly perfect cabs except for a “tiny-micro” sized nick on the top of the dummy unit (see photo with arrow). The wheels and rollers on the powered unit appear to have some marks from very light usage, while the wheels and rollers on the dummy unit are pristine and un-marked. Other than as noted, the cabs have been inspected and there are no other box rubs, nicks, scratches or screw cracks.  They are really too good to call “Like New” but the light wheel marks on the powered unit prevent us from grading them a “Mint”. The units have been tested and the motors, e-unit, and lights are all “A-OK”.

The original box is part of this set and is in excellent ++ condition, cellophane completely intact and no end flap tears, but scuffs, nicks and dis-coloration commensurate with their 37-year old age. All of the original paperwork is also included.
