This set is headed by a Northern Pacific GP-9 diesel, featuring a powerful Pullmor motor, operating headlights, transformer controlled forward/neutral/reverse, die-cast trucks and wheels, metal chassis, and self-centering couplers. All of the freight cars feature all metal sprung trucks with metal wheels, magnetic operating knuckle couplers at both ends. Additional note: At the end of 1976 (Christmas Catalogue) Lionel manufactured a non-powered matching GP-9 dummy for this set. It was numbered 6-8668 and is also available for sale on this site.
