Lionel 1665 Empire State Express Set (Sealed) Price: $414.95 Mfg#: Lionel 6-1665 Mfg'd: 1976 2014 Greenburg Guide Price: $435 (Mint) |
This Empire State Express train set was manufactured by Lionel in 1976. Now over 35 years old - you'll be hard pressed to find one, like this one, that is factory sealed! The set contains:
The locomotive features a powerful Pullmor motor with “Electronic Sound of Steam” (...state of the art in 1976 J), smoke, operating headlight and Magnetraction. The freight cars and caboose roll on Symington-Wayne trucks with metal wheels and axles, and operating magnetic couplers at both ends. The set is factory sealed, and as such the locomotive and cars are all in "factory fresh" condition (i.e. "Mint", "brand new", "never been on the tracks or displayed"). The original set box cover is in Like New condition with a few scuffs and nicks, while the set box and contents are still in the original shrink-wrap. Photographic note: The photos below of the locomotive and rolling stock are file photos, depicting the identical items sealed within the set. Sorry for the quality of 4 of the 5 – they are early/old digital shots. Also sorry that no photo of the 9159 was available other than the close-up of the car in the sealed set.
