This Cross Country Express set was manufactured by Lionel in 1980, It is a "Ready to Run" boxed set, with an extended oval of O-27 track and a UL-listed transformer. It is headed by a Toledo, Peoria & Western (TP&W) GP-20 diesel that features a powerful Pullmor motor, operating headlight, operating knuckle couplers, forward-neutral-reverse operation with metal trucks, wheels, handrails and chassis. The set also contains 4 freight cars, and a lighted caboose, each with operating knuckle couplers, metal wheels and axles. A special feature of this set is a manually operated Santa Fe gantry crane.
